West AfricanCentre for sustainable rural transformations (WAC-SRT)

The WAC-SRT develops interdisciplinary, transnational research and teaching programs that will contribute to sustainable rural development and political stability in West Africa by producing the required expertise, applicable technological solutions, locally adapted business models and administrative approaches

WAC-SRT enhances research and teaching capacities as well as the infrastructure of three African partner faculties at universities in Niger and Ghana, which are addressing natural science/engineering, agribusiness and rural economics, as well as development governance, respectively. Common curricula development of interdisciplinary MA and PhD programs in Niger and Ghana, staff training, staff exchange, stipends for (international) PhD and Master Students with student exchanges, cross-teaching, as well as common summer schools will contribute to economic, technological, and managerial solutions adapted to particular the West African context.
